The Junior Blind Olympics is the premier event for athletes from across the country who are blind and visually impaired. The event allows access for all youth, despite their disabilities, to participate in challenging, fun and confidence-building activities. Competition includes shot put, archery, rowing, soccer throw, goal ball, rock climbing, running long jump and 100-yard dash. More Than 800 athletes, volunteers and family members attended this year. 2008 Event RecapHeld at Junior Blind's campus on April 26, 2008, the 4th Annual Junior Blind Olympics were an inspirational and exciting occasion for more than 800 athletes, family members and volunteers. Athletes came from all over California, Arizona, Utah and Nevada to compete in adaptive Olympic-style events, including shot put, archery, rowing, soccer throw, goal ball, rock climbing, running long jump and 100-yard dash. Sponsored by CVS/pharmacy and The Raymond Group, the Junior Blind Olympics gave hundreds of youth, ages 6-19, who live with visual impairments the opportunity to overcome sight barriers, push their physical abilities and achieve their goals.
