Junior Blind’s Davidson Program for Independence is a comprehensive residential program designed to help adults who are blind or visually impaired. Through training in four core areas: Braille, Assistive Technology Skills, Orientation and Mobility and Independent Living Skills, such as cooking, cleaning and money management, graduates of the program attain the skills to find employment and enjoy productive and fulfilling lives in their homes, communities and places of work.
The Davidson Program for Independence serves adults, ages 18 and older, who are blind or visually impaired and want to achieve greater independence in the home, community and workplace. Our program is individualized and designed to meet the needs of all ages and skill levels.
The Davidson Program for Independence is made up of a team of seasoned professionals in the field of blindness. Students receive training from experienced instructors who specialize in Orientation and Mobility, Independent Living, Braille and Assistive Computer Technology.
The only program of its kind in Southern California, Junior Blind’s Davidson Program for Independence attracts individuals from all over California.
A student may be referred to the Davidson Program for Independence by the Department of Rehabilitation, family member, healthcare or blindness professional.
